Won via a competitive pitch the NT Oriental Emporium was a Design and Construct project, constructed following an extensive fire.
The new design was larger than the original building, incorporating a mezzanine floor for office space and a larger retail area on the ground floor (featuring a bottle shop, café, and butcher). A packing room, two toilet facilities, a cleaners’ room, and a loading dock were also constructed. The building features a lift and complements the In2Food building next door.
The client required high level safety and a fire engineer solution. This solution included traffic-able bollards at all windows and entries, roller shutters on all ground level windows and a large security system to limit break ins.
The project was completed within budget and the client is very happy with the quality of work and is excited to see the building operating at its full potential again.
